Special scissors with blunt tips - used to open intestines safely without cutting the mucosa of the opposite wall.

✶ 2. Speculum
An instrument for dilating an orifice. Not standard for autopsies, however, they are used in rare examinations.

A type of spinal cord knife (two parallel blades for opening the dura/spinal canal).

✶ 4. Autopsy Saw
To cut through bone (skull, ribs, sternum).

✶ 5. Post-mortem Head Clamp
To stabilise the head during skull opening.

Used with chisels to open a skull (before powered saws became widespread).

✶  Machine wash ✶

1. Remove all detachable hardware (e.g. chains) and fasten any buttons, snaps, or zippers

2. Turn item inside out and place in a mesh laundry bag or a pillowcase.

3. Select a gentle or delicate wash cycle, and set the temperature to 40 degrees Celsius or lower.

4. Add detergent as usual.

5. Hang item up to air dry.
